In celebration of the changing seasons, a stunning drinks reception was held at the Signet Library to showcase the new Spring/Summer canapé collection. Inspired by the plethora of books and stories in the library, the event design team used Frances Hodgson Burnett’s classic ‘The Secret Garden’ to create an enchanting atmosphere with a selection of wild flora, rich linens and soft violet lighting to take guests to another world.
We spoke to Event Designer Erika about how they created this stunning event that showcased our new seasonal menu.
What was your inspiration for creating a secret garden themed reception?
Having the privilege of working in such a beautiful library we tried to think of famous books that portrayed Spring/Summer time in a joyful way and the answer was easy… we chose the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden.
However we decided to make it The Signet Secret Garden which brought to our minds pastel colours, rich flowing moss with elegant flowers and romantic soft lighting.
How did you work with suppliers to create and design the event?
Once we had our brief finalised we passed this information on to one of our most trusted suppliers Planet Flowers who were quick to put together different garden options for us to choose from and this included detailed display bar units covered in book pages, stacked books with moss and pastel roses and display stations for our delicious new canapes.
Core Events Services provided the fantastic lighting in the room and spotlights for our canape stations creating a dreamy atmosphere. We also worked together with 88 events, who have an outstanding collection of linen for hire that contributed to making the Upper Library look enchanting.
