Filled with imposing columns, intricate cornices, surrounded by the ornate balustrade of its gallery, the Lower Library is a splendid space that is versatile venue no matter what event is held within it.
Available for weekend and evening event hire, guests can appreciate their surroundings at a drinks reception before your main event in the Upper Library or enjoy aperitifs before sitting down to dinner in the Commissioners’ Room. It is also a very special setting, looking out over Parliament Square and the Royal Mile, for an elegant wedding ceremony. Its distinguished long aisle leads perfectly to the decorative archway under which your service solemnities can be performed.
By day the Lower Library is a fully functional working law library. Study desks add to the ambience that can be transformed into displaying wedding cakes or exquisite flower arrangements. The atmosphere will be intimate and private whilst at the same time the view through the Georgian astragal windows is across Parliament Square to the historic building elevations of Edinburgh's Royal Mile with St Giles Cathedral on the east side and Lothian Chambers on the west.
Whether you are looking for a unique wedding venue or somewhere to host a private dining evening, we'd be delighted to discuss your requirements.
